Great news. I made it to Venice. After our airplane landed at the wrong airport due to bad weather, we then sat on the runway for 2.5 hours. Gross. I did however meet a Bulgarian Italian family who live in Italy and their kids are learning both Bulgarian and Italian. Oh and the 10 year old also speaks enough English that she could laugh at me and my Bulgarian. I did however have a captive audience so I got a little Bulgarian practice in.
After way too many hours on the plane, we were finally let off but not at the airport I expected and Wizz Air was less then helpful. I guess I shouldn’t expect much from a low cost airline but really?! I of course had different directions to the city but made it into Venice without a hitch once I was on the bus.
By far the best purchase I’ve made so far was a 2 Euro map. I am not sure that you could get lost, lost in this city but it’s super easy to get turned around. One of the great things after the Sofia traffic is that there are no cars in the city center proper. WoW!! It means that mostly everyone walks or they take public transportation: boats. I took a look at the boat map this morning but you have to be able to read the numbers and the colors and know where the rivers are to really make a go of it. This said, I’ll be taking an adventure via boat tomorrow!!

Hey, at least you landed in the right country! You never know with these Europeans, one step forward and you’re in the wrong bloody place anyway! Bring along the states!
By the way, since you’re in Italy, while researching my family tree today I found some of my ancestors on the Spanish side come from Genoa! That’s two Italian lines I’ve got so far!
