Tired and then some

Well, it’s only Wednesday but I am tired. As one of my students said today: Wednesday is the new Monday. I know, I know. Wednesday is the middle of the week and I should be glad that the week is half over.

I am. Don’t get me wrong. I am also just much more tired than I normally am by Wednesday.

A lot of different factors seem to have collided this week and the result is that I’d be more than happy to curl up in bed with a good book than grade the stack of papers I can’t seem to make a dent in and have become impossible to ignore.  (more…)

Well, it’s a slow day for news.

I have been teaching, grading and teaching again and it’s going to be like this all week. And I am going to be working on Saturday as well. (Thanks, Boyko Borissov.) In May there are two, four day weekends for various holidays and now we’re making up one of these “holidays” on Saturday. You know because otherwise the country might loose money by not working.  Awesome.

It feels like much less of a holiday when this happens.

Anyhow, I know that I’ve written about this phenomena before so I won’t lament this too much more but I can’t help but think: ug. (Or maybe even double ug.)

I guess what it comes down to is that I think the weekend is mine. I look forward to it. I look forward to managing my own time, doing what I want to and wearing my sweatpants. (more…)
